World of Warcraft psychology

You know the stereotype about how people come to resemble their pets?

I'm beginning to believe that the class one chooses in wow often reflects their personality. My strongest examples are my friends and I.

One girl is very enthusiastic and emotional. Everything she does is a great dramatic gesture, for good or ill, and she has a tendency to just overload people with the sheer force of her will. However, all you have to do is look at her funny and she falls apart, she is so easily hurt. She plays a fire mage.

Another friend is a little. . .off. He's pleasant enough in his own way, but can be off-putting and his criticisms and barbs are so subtle that you don't notice them right away. He scares people off that don't take the time to get to know him, but he's always willing to step in and provide assistance if a friend is having trouble. He plays a warlock.

Another friend is one of those pillar-of-the-community bedrock strength types. He is patient and helpful, everyone always knows they can depend on him to face difficulties or help them recover if they've had a rocky day. He wants to protect everyone he knows from harm, and would shoulder the world's burdens if it asked him. He plays a paladin. On the flip side, he sometimes wishes he could break out of that role, tear things down, be stunning and unpredictable. His two alts are a fire mage and a shadow priest.

And I. . . I'm a lot more of a loner than I would like. Even when I find myself in a group, I'm not overly certain of my role, and I tend to follow my usual soloing pattern. I don't like depending on people. I like the idea of being part of a small self-contained unit. (There are a lot of other bits I could add, but talking about myself too much would border on pretentious.) I play a hunter.

I also find the MBTI personality type system very satisfying. The description of my type, INFP, seems to fit well with the hunter playstyle.

Has anyone else noticed this pattern?

*Edit* I've also noticed that every single time I have needed help to train a rare pet that is spawned by a quest of the opposite faction, it is a paladin who is willing to take the time and effort to do so.
