What to do?.. (please help)
I recently purchased a copy of Burning Crusade, and when I entered in the authentication key, it told me that it is already in use. This couldn't possibly be, as I purchased this copy myself, and my account does not have Burning Crusade registered.
Also, when I got the game, they gave me a "display case". I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with it or not?
I have entered it many, many times and I am sure that it is correct.
How should I go about this?..
Edit: Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

It sounds like someone already got to that box and used the key from it. The fact that is was a display case box might mean that someone returned it at some point (and they never planned to actually sell it) or some employee at the store figured it was a free key for them.
I would take it back to the store, tell them that the key from the game had already been used and get your money back. I'd probably then find another place to buy it from at that point, but I guess it would depend on how they treated me when I went to return it.

Yeah, sounds like someone took the code out (the only thing worth anything) and then took it back. Just take the game back, tell them that the code is in use already (someone scammed them) and get a brand new (unopened) copy of the game.

And if they don't want to take it back, then keep it in mind and avoid said store like the Bubonic plague in the future.

alot of stores wont take back opened software. So if said "scammer" ended up returning it he probably used a razor blade to slice the bottom of the box (the tape) sliding out the case and just entering the code, putting cd case back in and re using the same piece of tape.
Sneaky wabbit.

Make sure that if you aren't getting traction with the salesperson, that you talk with the manager...If the manager won't help, and their boss is present, ask to speak with them.
Eventually, they will realize you aren't just after getting a free game....These things happen, and it is much easier for them to get you a new box, than to have you complain it to blizzard.
On the other hand, if you get nowhere and have the legit key, you can call blizz and try to take over the account. It is possible...so don't listen to folks who will post below saying it isn't. (!!)

Youve got one thing going on your side and that's that you're not wanting to return it for credit or cash - you want another copy of the same game (a good copy) - it makes a diffference to them especially.
It's kind of like renting 3 videos on Friday only to find out on Sunday that the last one is scratched, they'll always give you the same movie - but ask to just return it for credit and they're thinking "this dude already watched the whole thing!" lol
